Surround yourself with people who tell you when you have boogers in your nose. They're capable of being honest even if it hurts to hear. Also strive to do the same for others because no one in a flipped scenario wants to be lied to about their boogers.

The phrase "Keeping up with the Joneses" is common but what isn't talked about is the other side, unwisely hoarding wealth and limiting personal freedom in the name of imagined scarcity. This sucks even more than blowing money because you had to do all the work to obtain it and subsequently not use it.

Sharing the most vulnerable parts of yourself yields the the closest relationships. In a friendship where the other person knows you deeply, and loves you regardless of all the bad things that humans inevitably have, there is no need to posture yourself in a positive light and you are free to be yourself.
